Adding a Link to in issue doesn't work for a specific project.

Nessrine Hafi February 4, 2022

Hello,

I've been using Jira recently and I came across a problem that I don't know how to fix it.

I have to Jira instances. when I try to link an issue to one on the other instance. it works for all issues except issues from a specific project. It used to work but now it won't.

every time I try to link it I will get this even though for other projects it wasn't needed :

Capture1.PNG

and when press authenticate  I get this page:

Capture2.PNG

afterward, when I press the link nothing changes.

and it only happens for specific project issues.

Update* Now it won't work for all projects.

Please if you are familiar with this problem help me.

Hi @Nessrine Hafi,

Linking issues requires the link issues and edit issues permission on the project you are trying to link from and to. As this permission is set at project level, it may explain why you can link to issues in some projects and not in others.

Do check the permission scheme of the project you can't link to, verify what project roles / groups / roles  the link issues and edit issues permission are granted to. Additionally, make sure that the user account you use when linking is assigned to the appropriate roles or groups.

Hope this helps!

Hello @Walter Buggenhout ,

I've tried checking the same permission and they are correct. I'm an administrator therefore I made sure to check both edit and issue link permissions.

But what's strange is that now even other projects issues won't link to this project's issue.

Thank you very much for your reply.
