Adding color custom field.

I'm looking to understand if I can color different teams on our JIRA board, so that we could easily identify which team is which.  Is that possible?

You can color to cards on the board based on queries, so if you have some custom field that represents the teams (or some other way to differentiate between teams) you can try this approach with no need to use any external app.

Are you using Atlassian Jira Cloud or Jira Server? 

What type of add-ons do you have currently? 

Since this is not native to Jira you might have to look into other options like add-ons.
