Adding image to notification emails footer in jira

We want to add an image in footer of the email notifications of jira v7.12.1. So, we modified the footer.vm file and added the image source there. It is appearing in the emails but it is not properly sized to occupy the complete area of the text above it. I have tried to explain it by highlighting the same in the attached screenshot. The yellow highlighted area is still not getting covered by the image added.
