Adding text to the last column of a table and then adding a new row to the table.

Those new to the Atlassian Community have posted less than three times. Give them a warm welcome!
Jira version - v8.5.3
The table was created in the Description field, using Jira table tools.
In the last column on the last row, I enter two carriage returns and then some text when I'm in the VISUAL text editor.
I then add a new row and some text in the new cells.
When I save the table 'breaks' the new text displays below the table and a new separate row is created below the final paragraph I entered.
I would expect that the new text I enter remains as part of the last column/cell and a new row remains part of the original table .
If this is a known error - is there a workaround or planned version fix?
