Addons for Jira DC test environment

Tudor Tofan June 24, 2025

Hello all

I'm working on a Jira DC 10.3 environment, with Scriptrunner, JSU, Xray and Epic SumUP installed. I'm planning to create a test environment and I have found this document from Atlassian with step by step instructions to replicate the production: Creating a test environment for Jira | Administering Jira applications Data Center 10.7 | Atlassian Documentation

However, this document doesn't mention anything about the apps. Is there anything I need to do regarding the add-ons? Or will they work as intended automatically?

Hi, @Tudor Tofan

Welcome to Atlassian Community!

The manual you mentioned describes the process of copying a production instance and converting it into a test instance. During this process, all plugins are copied as well.

This includes their license keys, which are transferred along with the database.

In short — after creating the test instance, your plugins will function just as they did in production, but now on the test environment.

There may be exceptions due to network restrictions, email settings, or other external factors — but in most cases, everything should work as expected.

Adding to the  @Tudor Tofan after the test instance set up, ensure that you apply the development license for all those apps.

HI @Tudor Tofan

Welcome to the community.

You will need to add the apps to the newly created environment as well.

This is an additional action.

Why?
It's not newly created environment. It's cloned environment, with modified and limited configuration.
Plugins are copied with Jira folder.

Hi @Evgenii

This depends if you clone the folders as well. If you only use a backup copy of the DB and a fresh installation you will need to install all apps in this new instance.

Hi @Marc - Devoteam . According to the procedure provided by Atlassian, the folders are copied.
