I know there are other questions and answers regarding this, but all of them seem to be quite old.
I am our Jira admin. I do realize that it's possible for someone to be a site admin and not have access to any projects, but in our case (and I suspect in many others), as the site admin, I'm also the one building projects and boards for various teams.
Has there been any movement on the ability for an admin to share a filter with a group they're not a member of? It's ridiculous that I'd need to be a member of every group we have (several hundred) just to be able to create a filter and share it with a specific group.
ETA that there is an open ticket at Atlassian that's 4 years old and only has one vote. This is a hugely inconvenient restriction, and I hope that more people are interested in having it changed.
Hello Esther,
Thank you for reaching out.
Indeed, the limitation of sharing an issue filter with a group you are not a member of is something that had some impact with our customers in the past few years. Please, refer to the feature request below:
As you can see in the last update of our developers, they are currently working to get it implemented and will update the feature request as soon as we got anything.
That being said, I have added this question together with your feedback in an internal comment to know if there are any updates since they started to develop this feature. I will let you know as soon as they provide me any information. :)
P.S: This functionality is being developed to both Cloud and Server, so probably the update will come in both feature requests.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you. That's a server ticket, as indicated we're using Cloud. I was able to find the corresponding Cloud ticket, which has been open since 2008 and very clearly states by Atlassian that it will not be implemented. If what you say is true and the functionality is being developed for Cloud, could you please have someone from Atlassian update the ticket?
