Advanced Roadmaps not showing child issues

thekeithlane November 15, 2022

Our Advanced Roadmaps board was set up and working as expected (see first pic)

We inserted an issue type (Feature) in between Initiative and Epics, and now we can not display any of the dependent issues. (see second pic)

I checked and updated my sources so the new Feature issue tickets are showing up in one of the filters that the board pulls from.
Parent links were deleted when we inserted the new ticket type in the hierarchy as expected. I created new parent links (Initiative - Feature, Feature - Epic), though nothing is showing on the board. (And when I create a new issue on the board, it is immediately being removed with a note saying that data is not

Any ideas on what I am missing?

Thank you!

Keith

Hello @thekeithlane

If I understand correctly, previously you had

Initiative
|-- Epic

And now you have

Initiative
|-- Feature
|-- Epic

You said parent links were deleted and you started to recreate them. Exactly what were you recreating? With this hierarchy, you would no longer have Initiatives being parents directly to Epics.

In this case you need to create Features, make those Features parents of the Epics, and make the Initiatives parents of the Features.

@Trudy Claspill Thanks for the reply!

Yes, I'm sorry if I misspoke, and thanks for clarifying.

The (Initiative - Epic) parent links were deleted, and I created new parent links (Initiative - Feature, Feature - Epic)

I'm stating that in the ticket to skip someones attempts to problem solve for me that way (in order that someone doesn't tell me I have to establish parent links [(Initiative - Feature, Feature - Epic] for the Features to show up nested). Sounds like I was a little confusing.

Thank you again for taking the time to look at my question!

How exactly are you re-establishing the parent/child links? Are you editing Parent Link fields?

thekeithlane November 15, 2022

Two ways.

1) I have created Features in Advanced Roadmaps, which establishes it auto-magically.
2) And I am going into the child ticket and adding the appropriate Parent ticket. It seems pretty straight forward.

Thanks,

Yes, that is what I tried also, and it worked for me.

That would lead me to re-examine the sources for your roadmap, including the exclusion rules and removed issues, and the hierarchy selection in your settings.

Ok, that's it.

I thought I had covered it - I only have Initiatives and Features in one of my filters.
I updated it and checked it to make sure it was pulling the new issue type correctly.

...and apparently, I never saved it.

Fixed that, runs great.

Thank you so much!
