After confluence migration users.groups and memeberships are not found

Recently I moved my old confluence( 5.10 to 6.11.2) .After migration my users groups and memberships are not found in user and groups.  but when i check the directories i can see active directory is available and can sync with the instance, but when i try to log in application using normal  user im getting a permission issue (brick wall image).

I did a database query and found there is no users associated with active directory , only internal users are available. only change i have done is adding new AD user name and password similar to old username since no one knows the old AD password used in the production instance. what can be the issue for this . does anyone face similar kind of issue?
