Alphabetical list of all starred filters in new JIRA navigation?

Matthew Nelson April 17, 2025

Previously, if I opened a filter, I would see a clean alphabetical list of my starred filters in the side bar, with a scroll bar to easily find the one I want. With the new navigation, under "Starred" I see a short, seemingly random list (certainly not the most recent), and when I click on "View all starred items", it again shows me a short, non-alphabetical list of starred filters. How do I recreate that alphabetical list of starred filters I used to see?

I can also go to View all filters, and click on the star to sort my starred filters first, but the UI there only shows me 25 or so filters, and I have over 100, so I have to click through the pages. So what used to be "scroll, and a single click to open a filter", is now 4 or 5 clicks to get to the same filter?

Morning @Matthew Nelson

On the side bar, do you not see a Filters view?

If you do, then you are limited to how its displaying them, which (i believe) is an attempt to show you 'filters touched or looked at recently, at the top' vs 'alphabetical'.

If you do not see the above, if you click 'Customize sidebar' you should be able to enable showing Filters

When I click into the 'View all filters' option myself, yes its paginated, but the list of filters in this view, IS alphabetized for me...  but you are saying you don't see it alphabetically??   You might have to filter by your user on the 'view all filters' view, but i see it alphabetically in this situation....

Hope this helps!

I do have the filters choices in the sidebar.

In the View all filters view, it is alphabetized, and I can click on the Star to put my favorites first.  but I have over 100 starred filters, and the view is paginated.

So old navigation: I click on a browser shortcut to open a filter. I then use the scroll bar to click on the favorite filter I want (from an alphabetized list).  So a scroll and a click to get to the filter I want. Very quick.

New navigation: I have to click on view all filters, and then, if my filter is late in the list, I need to guess what page my filter might be on. Adds multiple clicks and 10-20 seconds to an operation I do dozens of times a day.  All for an "improved user experience".

Please bring back the alphabetized, scrollable, list of favorite filters to the sidebar,.

From my experience, the best you can do in the new UI is click view all filters, then type a few letters/numbers from the filter in question's name in the first search box with the spy glass icon (to the left of owner drop down select) and then you shouldn't have pagination...

so, scroll + type a few things + click the thing

admittedly not 'scroll and click' but if you type enough letters/numbers to identify the filter name, it shouldn't require any pagination.
