I'm using a Message Custom Field with default text set to display a message in a transition screen. My users are complaining that the text is very easy to overlook. Is there any way to format it? I've tried entering HTML in the default text, but it seems to be stripped out (or just ignored) when viewing the screen.
This is the field type; note that it says it will display as HTML:
This is what it looks like when the screen displays:
Hello Esther,
I hope you are having a nice day.
As you can see in the Field description, For JIRA On-demand (Cloud) the formatting options of the field can be achieved by using Wiki Markup notation, the same used for the system fields (Comments, descriptions, etc) on JIRA.
That been said, to bold a text on the message field you can put it between asterisks:
*Are you sure you want to escalate this ticket?*
You can check the notation help to have more format options in the "?" icon of comment fields:

Thank you; I was able to bold the default value of the Message Custom Field using asterisks. It sounds like I should be able to use any markdown formatting, though, and that doesn't seem to be the case. I tried using a hash symbol to display it as a header, and the field just displays the hash as part of the text rather than formatting it as an actual header.

Hello Esther,
Actually, the message field accepts any kind of Markup Formatting (Old issue view) and not Markdown (New issue view).
That been said, to add the text as a heading, you can use the options h1., h2., etc:
h1. Are you sure you want to escalate this ticket?

Thank you! My misunderstanding; I assumed it would work with markdown. The markup formatting did work.

I do have issues with pre-populating default values as well. I hope its okay for me to bug in on this thread. But When pre-populating with asterickes, part of the text is turning bold and other text isnt! Oo
See before-after on this ticket, please:

Any chances of a quick fix? :(

Awesome! I am now able to set a colour (or any other formatting) for default texts in a single text field. Thanks a lot! Thought it would be impossible and came here by random. Always good to ask the community or to check if we're the only ones with a question. ;-)
