Anyone did a upgrade from 4.1 to 4.4- Question about jira.config property file

In 4.4, with fresh install jira.config property file does not exist in the JIRA home directory and stated in the document that this needs to be created manually. how do we do it just copy the file from previous version and paste it to home directory? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I only copied over the lines in the jira-application.properties that we customized. The new way of handling this is much nicer because it is easier to see and maintain the specific customizations you have made.

I did the same as Bob. Created the new file, and moved over the variables that I had previously configured. Works great.

Bob, the only thing that i don't like about the new way of doing it, is now you have to find what your variables are called. ie: the one to change the size of the trasition group before providing a drop down. I did find it, but if I didn't have an old file it would have been a bit of a pain.

does this mean that if we have not customized the jira-config file then we may not need to move it to JIRa Home directory for 4.4?

Correct, if you didn't customize your jira-application.properties (that is where it was < 4.4), you don't need it until you have something to put in there.

Yeah you can do that... not all the properties are valid so it's worth reviewing each one that you've customised.

Is there any way to find out what you have customized? Could we look somewhere what the jira.config properties default file looks like??

Get a fresh install of the version you had, and diff your jira-app.props with the one in the clean install.
