Anyone figure out how to do the date diff between two date fields?

Anyone have success using the "diff" option? I am trying to calculate the difference between two dates. I used "minus" as well just to see if it gives me anything. I do not get any errors, says my custom action was successful but my field does not populate. I have tried as a text and as a number field. 

Appreciate any feedback! 

Ex. Issue.Created.diff{{Issue.Start date}}

Ex. Issue.Start date.diff{{Issue.Due date}}

I have used the diff function many times in Automation rules. Is that where you are trying to use it? If so, have you reviewed the documentation on the function use?

If you are using the function somewhere besides in Automation rules, can you provide more context about where you are trying to use the function?

Can you give us a screen image showing your actual use of the function?
