Question 1:
Within Jira, under the administration section. When I go to manage apps it shows me a list of all user-installed applications for my company. I am wondering if there is a way to see the usage of each of those applications?
Question 2:
Within Jira, under the user management section. When I filter the list to only show active users, it looks as though there are "user" accounts created for each of the applications/ plug ins we have added to our Jira account. I am wondering if these are needed/ can I delete these without it effecting the usability of the application? As well as wondering why these were created in the first place?
"user account" EX:
Full name: Jira spreadsheets
User name: addon_com.atlassian.jira.spreadsheets com.atlassian.jira.spreadsheets@connect.atlassian.com.
Log in details: Never logged in
Group name: Atlassian-addons jira-users
Applications: Jira software
Directory: Jira internal directory
I am wondering if these are needed/ can I delete these without it effecting the usability of the application? As well as wondering why these were created in the first place?
The accounts were created by the plug-in to log the activities of the plug-in and are essential for perform actions that require an authenticated user account. Their deletion would not be good!
If you are going to be responsible for administering the Jira Cloud instance of your company, consider taking a suitable certification course, like ACP-120. It covers topics like how plug-ins are installed, how they work, what their component parts are, and how to monitor and manage their usage. Once you know all this, you will 'wonder' no more :)
Note that these accounts do not count towards your licence count, so there's no reason to delete them (although I would if you stop using the app they are supporting)
