We are in the process of migrating from Jira Server 7.5 to the latest version of Jira Data Center, and I'm having some difficulty identifying any software requirements that may impact this migration. Specifically, will we need to first upgrade Jira Server to the most recent version before being able to migrate, or does Server 7.5 fall within the minimum application requirements for seamless migration? We are aware that there are other dependencies that will need to be reviewed, such as DB version, app (plug-in) compatibilities, and Java version, but I'm finding it difficult to identify these requirements within the documentation provided by Atlassian. Can someone please point me in the right direction? Much appreciated.
Hi Aidan
welcome to the Atlassian community.
You should be able to switch from your 7.5 server instance to DC, still it would be an option to think of first running an upgrade to a newer version on your current environment and then to the changes to have DC in place.
Personally speaking i used https://www.atlassian.com/migration/plan/data-center-guide#assess as a starting point in the past
Cheers
Thank you for the reply!
Can you think of any advantages offhand to upgrading Server to a newer version before migrating to DC? We plan on spinning up a brand new instance of DC to migrate to, so there's no existing DC installation currently.
Thank you!
