Hi;
I'm our JIRA administrator (not a very knowledgeable one). I'm trying to figure out if we're backing up our JIRA instance. And if not, what we have to do to back it up.
Our System / Backup manager is set as follows:
The three projects listed above that are not backed up - not that important (they are not our main projects).
So, are all the other projects being backed up? And if not, what do I have to do to turn that on?
And for the next-gen projects, is there no way to back them up?
thanks - dave
There are two types of Cloud backup.
The first is part of the service, an emergency/disaster recovery backup taken regularly and often by Atlassian, so that if they lose machines for some reason, they can recreate your systems. This backup is useless to you as an end-user and hence not available.
The second is a process which dumps all the data out into xml and allows you to download it. You are on the screen that allows you to do it.
If you want a backup, you have to use this screen to create and download a backup file. A lot of people script this so they get regular backups (not a lot of point if they include next-gen projects as they can't use them on non-cloud systems, but at least they get the raw data)
Do I click the [Create backup for cloud] button to get the XML backup?
And the only value of that XML backup is to get a snapshot from the past - correct? In terms of hard drives crashing, Atlassian's backups take care of that - correct?
thanks - dave
