Attachments not available after restore

Hi, I deleted a project by mistake and now I restored it as I have daily backups but the attachments are not back. I looked into the directory and even though there are folders created, there are no actual files in it. I also have a backup of the entire database but not sure where and how to find the attachments. Is there a way you could guide me through the resolution of the problem?

Jira does not store the attachments in the database.  The Jira database only keeps references to those attachments.  So while you can restore an XML backup of Jira into your database, that does not include the attachments which are stored as flat files.

Since the project deletion steps in Jira will also delete the attachments in for that project, but not the entire folder structures, it is expected that these files would not be restored by an XML import.   Unless you have a backup of that $JIRAHOME/data/attachments/ directory, I am afraid that those files are lost.  Do you have complete system backup or a backup of that directory you could pull this data from?

thank you. It turned out I did have a full backup thanks to my network team... got all I needed back. :)
