We are in the process of migrating our Atlassian suite from a single server to the modern cloud environment.  We downloaded CMJ and used it to create snapshots of our Jira projects.  During creation of the snapshots, I clicked on the include attachments checkbox.  Sometime after the snapshots were done, someone noticed that when they click on an attachment from the Jira task, it displays "Oops, you've found a dead link" or "Ouch, we can't load the PDF".  It appears that the files under F:\atlassian_data\Jira\data\attachments were gone.  Any ideas?  I have the snapshots and hope they do contain the attachments but wondering how to restore them if possible.

I was able to repeat this issue as a test.  Here are the details:

First, the versions we are using:

Jira - 8.5.1

CMJ - 6.15.2

We have a project called OEPG (this is the key), which was used for the test.

  1. Created a zip file of F:\Atlassian_data\Jira\data\attachments\OEPG to save it before starting the test.
  2. I opened Jira task OEPG-21 and displayed its attachment successfully.
  3. Started CMJ and created a snapshot of OEPG using the “include attachments” checkbox.
  4. Reopened Jira task OEPG-21 and clicked on the attachment and got the “dead link” error.
  5. Verified that the file was removed from the F:\Atlassian_data\Jira\data\attachments\OEPG folder on the file system.
  6. Restored the contents of the zip file created in step 1 and was able to display the attachment again successfully.

Hi Kevin,

I used the CMJ a lot (I'm not involved in the company behind CMJ), but I never got this issue. I think something else must have happened. Could you check you backups?

Kind regards,

Bert
