Auto assigned site name (free version)

Hello, I have just created a new Atlassian free account and when I got to the stage where I could choose a site name I typed what I wanted, got the green tick (name available) but when I pressed the continue button it gave me an error message saying that I could not change the name. However, a name had not been assigned since I was in the process of creating a site name. Now, it has given me this strange name team-xxxxxxxxxxxx and I don't seem to be able to change it. Any suggestions please?

I am experiencing this exact same problem.  I tried to create my site name on the free version and I get the same error.  Very frustrating.

Same issue here. Did you get this resolved eventually?

I'd check out this KB article for more information about the next steps to take. It looks like Atlassian support may be able to help you. I'd contact them to start with. If that doesn't work, the rest of the steps in the document may be useful to you!

the issue is w/ Free you don't have access to Atlassian Support.

Ahh, right you are. I forgot about that limitation of the free version! Thanks for pointing that out.

Thanks guys. The thing is that even with a free account, they should be made aware of it as it seems to be a bug in the free account registration process. When I get to the site name, it actually asks me to choose a name and validates it against their name DB to see if that name is free or not. Once I get the "green tick" and press "next" then it says "your site name cannot be changed" (but it is the registration stage that I am at!). They should allow us to contact them even in the free version to report "bugs" to improve their own tool! Would any of you have a paid version that would allow to take this question further? Thanks. KP

I am operating on a paid version, but I cannot raise a bug on your behalf as their support covers issues with my instance.

That being said, I did just come across something where my free site is also showing me a "team" name in the admin portal even though it is not named that.

Have you tried accessing your site under the URL you tried to create? Does that work?

my only suggestion would be to try creating a completely new instance. Unsure what could have gone wrong based upon your post.
