Automate dates for linked sub tasks in jira

Chris December 11, 2023

Hello,

I was wondering if you could help me automate the sub task in a task, so that if sub task one is delayed +3 day, then sub task 2 will auto update to +3 days. I figured this could just be done by changing the due date in subtask one. I would like this to work like MS project.

This would be a big help because I am working in a project with a lot of task and sub task. IF sub task 5 is delayed then I would like to show all the proceeding subtasks also delayed.

Hello @Chris

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

What is your hosting type - Jira self-hosted (Jira Server or Jira DC) or Jira Cloud?

I think Jira Server. I know it is not cloud.

If you are using self-hosted Jira you will be able to see the version shown at the bottom of many screen, like this

If you are in Jira Cloud you won't see that type of text at the bottom of any of the screens, and the URL would most likely be similar to https://something.atlassian.net

What version information is shown at the bottom of your Jira pages?

Also ask your administrators if the Automation for Jira plugin is available for your Jira instance.
