Hi,

i would like to transition a Subtask based on other subtask state.

I am having 3 different workflows but in one situation my subtask can be sent back from state "in review" into "open". That means i need to trigger other Subtask to go back also when the first one transitions.  Something isnt working coz i am triggering with a transition From-To and i have a condition when in a state and i wont Then: Trasition issue to OPEN. But this isnt working.

Am i missing something? Am i wrong in thinking that automated for Jira can push Issue backwards?

Hello @Jurica Petricevic

Thank you for reaching out.

Per your description, I understand that you want the sub-tasks with the same parent to be transitioned back to "Open" when one of the sub-tasks under that parent is transitioned from "In Review" to "Open" using Jira Automation. Is that correct?

To allow the Automation to properly transition an issue to a different status, you must configure your workflow in a way that allows that transition. Allow me to provide you with an example to explain it better:

  1. Let's suppose you have the following workflow applied to all your sub-tasks:
    Screen Shot 2020-07-27 at 17.17.50.png
You can see in the workflow above you have a transition that goes from "In review" back to "Open", however, the "In Progress" and "Done" statuses do not have a transition to the status "Open".
  2. Then, you configured the following Automation rule to properly move all your sub-tasks with the same parent back to "Open" when one of them is transitioned to "Open":

  3. With the scenario above, let's suppose you have three sub-tasks under the same parent: sub-task A, B, and C
  4. Sub-tasks A and B are in the status "In Review", while C is the status "In progress"
  5. Then, you transitioned the Sub-task A from "In Review" to "Open", which triggered the automation
  6. The automation only transitioned the sub-task B, because the sub-task C is in the "In progress" status which does not have a transition configured to "Open"
  7. To properly make the automation to be applicable to sub-task C, you would need to configure your Workflow to allow that transition, adding a new transition from the status "In progress" to "Open":

If this is not you are looking for or the information didn't help, please provide us with a screenshot of your current automation rule together with the error you are facing and the workflow(s) related to the issues.
