Automatic In-Progress for Stories?

Is there a way to make a "not started" story change state to "in progress" automatically if any of it's tasks are changed from Open to another status?

Hi,

It is possible but requires some development. This is not a OOTB feature. You can use for example a ScriptRunner plugin, JellyScripts, REST API or write a listener.. I think you can also combine few methods, but in my opinion everything is possible in JIRA :)
