Automation between Subtasks

Hello. I am trying to create automation between subtasks but the different rules I have tried have not worked. What I am trying to accomplish is... when subtask "A" is done with a CHG resolution of "Successful" then in subtask "B" the field of AutoDeployApproved is filled with "Approved" and so on to the next subtask. Below is the automation rule that I think should have worked but didn't. I am also pasting the audit log. Please help me with understanding where I am going wrong. Thanks.

Hi @Jesse Ortega Jr

It looks like from your audit log that it's failing when it reaches the condition...

  • CHG Resolution is one of Successful

...is that correct?

If yes, I'd check these things first...

  • CHG-14111 has got the right CHG Resolution (i.e retest it)
  • Change the condition for this line item to equals - making it an absolute
  • I'd also recommend not using Summary contains or Summary starts with - I find these can be a little fluffy, and if the information is repeatable, having it in a select list custom field is more absolute for automation

If this doesn't work, can you provide exactly what the rule should do - including...

  • Trigger: Is it Sub-task closing/resolving? Is it just the field CHG Resolution being populated?
  • Action: Is it always just whatever Sub-task is linked via is blocked by?

...and we can try to help further :)

Thanks @Ste Wright for your response and feedback.

Yes, the automation was failing in the condition of

  • CHG Resolution is one of Successful

A modification has been made to the Sub-task screen and now automation is picking up the CHG Resolution of "Successful". However, now I have run into the issue that the next sub-task "JAD:B" cannot be found. Below is the workflow I am using and the audit log.

Here is what I am trying to Accomplish

  • Trigger: Sub-task "JAD:A" is completed with the CHG Resolution of Successful
  • Action: Sub-task "JAD:B" with AutoDeploy EPServer is one of EPDEV, EPNONPROD, EPPROD --> Then field AutoDeploy Approved is autofilled to Approved
  • Trigger: Sub-task "JAD:B" is completed with the CHG Resolution of Successful
  • Action: Sub-task "JAD:C" with AutoDeploy EPServer is one of EPDEV, EPNONPROD, EPPROD --> Then field AutoDeploy Approved is autofilled to Approved
  • And so on...

Hi @Jesse Ortega Jr

The branch above is the issue - For Sub-tasks is looking for Sub-tasks of the trigger issue, which there isn't any, as it's a sibling rather than a parent.

It looks like the original branch was For Linked Issues - is blocked by which would be preferable - is there a reason you aren't using this anymore?
