With Jira's automation I have set up some simple rules, that when a sub-task changes it's status to "In work", it also sets's the parent story and epic to "In work".
Now with advanced roadmaps, we have additional parents like initiatives and themes above epic.
Hierarchy
1. Theme
2. Initiative
3. Epic
4. Story
5. Sub-Task
In automation I tried it with this, bunt is has no effect.
The problem with it seems that the branch rule "Parent" only applies to the issue level directly above sub-tasks (so parent means stories here I guess)?
How can I access and alter parents above epics?
Hi @p0cket0m,
This is from Jira Server POV, should be something similar here as well. The hierarchy is normally stored on the Advanced Roadmaps side of it. On the Jira side, if not mistaken, the links will be something like this:
However, I'm not sure if these are something that can be updated/accessed via Automation for Jira. (except for the Parent-Sub-task - your understanding is correct)
I hope that this helps.
Thanks,
Moga
