In any automation is it necessary to make the fields optional? Will automation work with mandatory fields?

No there isn't an automation to change if a field is mandatory or optional. Not on cloud and not currently. In a few months Adaptavist will release behaviors for Jira Cloud, but it will be available only for a few systemic fields and after on custom fields.

Hi Manu,

It will work as long as you populating those fields some values. But you can't use a transition screen as a populate fields in the process.
