Is this report filtering by resolution date for issues and calculating average time that the data set was in the designated status?

For example:

Period: Monthly

Days Previously: 120

Is this grouping time spent in the selected status for all issues marked as resolved in the last 120 days OR is it showing ALL resolved issues for the selected filter and showing average time spent in that status for all issues that had that status anytime in the last 120 days?

Hello @Melinda Spratley

You can try Time in Status for Jira Cloud, which generates status time reports, including an Average time report. It calculates the average time an issue has spent in each status

This add-on calculates the time in any period (120 days in your case). Also, a Pivot table function helps to calculate the average time.

You can export data as CSV or XLS files for further analysis.

It's developed by my team and is free for using up to 10 users. Please, let me know if you have any questions.

Hi @Melinda Spratley

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

You can try Status Time Reports app developed by our team. It mainly provides reports and gadgets based on how much time passed in each status.

  • You can select issue fields and statuses that you want to see in your report. It has a dynamic status grouping feature so that you can generate various valuable reports as time in status, time in assignee, status entry dates and status counts, cycle time and lead time.
  • You can search issues by Project, Issue Type, Status, Assignee, Issue Creation/Resolution Date(and any other Date field) and JQL Query.
  • Status durations are calculated according to the working calendar you define. Once you enter your working calendar into the app, it takes your working schedule into account too. That is, "In Progress" time of an issue opened on Friday at 5 PM and closed on Monday at 9 AM, will be a few hours rather than 3 days. It has various other reports like assignee time, status entry dates, average/sum reports by any field(e.g. average in progress time by project, average cycle time by issue creation month). And all these are available as gadgets on the dashboard too.
  • You can set different duration formats.
  • You can export reports in CSV file format and open them in MS Excel.
  • You can also add this app as a gadget to your Jira dashboards and reach “Status Time” from Issue Detail page.
  • You can enable/disable access to Status Time reports&gadgets and Issue Detail page per project, users, groups or project role.

You can get an average time in status report(monthly) by following these steps:

  1. After installing the app, create a new report and choose Status in “Report for” field.
  2. Choose “Average“ in “Report type“ field, select and add Created(year) and Created(month) fields.
  3. Click Search button and get an average time in status report on a monthly basis.

Here is the online demo link, you can see it in action and try without installing the app.

If you are looking for a free solution, you can try the limited version Status Time Free.

Hope it helps.
