Backlog order/priority does not preserve after migrating project from one Jira instance to other

Backlog order/priority does not preserve after migrating project from one Jira instance to other Jira.

Can you please suggest/help on how to migration the Jira project issues one Jira instance to other Jira to preserve the issues order/priority in the backlog board.

I'm currently migrating issues CSV options which is available in admin-> System (/secure/admin/ExternalImport1.jspa).

Thank you.

Hi @Reddeppa

I believe it is possible to do this if you export the rank value from one instance and ensure you map the rank when uploading into the new one.

This answer from a previous question has a detailed description on this. Give it a go and let us know if it works :)

Hi Stephan,

Thanks very much for the response.

In the exported CSV file, i could see the rank values like below

Ex:

Custom field (Rank)
1|hzsx67:
1|hzu41r:
1|hzu41z:
I'm exporting the same values from source and importing them in to target Jira, but I dont see the ranking is preserved as per the source. I have correctly mapped Rank filed to Rank field while importing.

Hi,

It seems the feature request is opened for this issue.

You can check the same at: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRASERVER-64428

Hi @Reddeppa

Yes - this looks like its in the suggestions backlog according to JRASERVER-64428.

If you tried the above suggestion and it didn't appear to keep them in rank order (when viewed via a rank-based issue search), then it might not be possible at this stage!
