Backup of JIRA 6.0.1 before Decommission

Arjun August 8, 2019

Hi All,

We are planning to Decommission our JIRA (6.0.1) application which is using SQL Server Database as backend. Before Decommissioning the application we are planning to take a backup of SQL Server DB which the application is using. Apart from that, is there anything that we can take a backup before the Decommission so that we wont miss out anything if we had to revert.

Please let me know, what else I can take as a backup for the JIRA application before I decommission?

You should also take the attachments from <jira home>/attachments, assuming you want to keep them.  I would also recommend a copy of the installation file that was used, so that if you want your Jira back, you can re-install and connect up an old database.  Plus a copy of the current licence key.  Although in theory your licence is perpetual, Atlassian have archived or hidden older versions of Jira - it's quite hard to find an installation for a version lower than 4.0 nowadays
