Best practices of BigPicture box creation

My colleague asked me to add Gannt chart to his project. I found BigPicture plugin that is used by other teams and created a box for him.  Now I sit and watch how bigpicture adds Auto bottom up value to some custom field that cannot be switched off to 12 000 issues, 95% of them are closed decades ago. It already took a couple of hours and I guess it will take 10 more.

Is it some kind of best practice for BigPicture boxes creation?

I am glad to hear that you started your journey with BigPicture!

Before you start working with the app, it is very important to understand how it works and how the synchronization impacts work items. Check our wiki page and the short video tutorial - Getting started with BigPicture. Note that you can customize your synchronization settings by creating a separate configuration scheme for your Jira projects (Jira administrator access required)

The basic configuration that impacts every work item and generates project workflow is mapping Start and End Date - find more info here.

Period Mode settings are equally important. By default, tasks are automatically scheduled (the Period mode is set to 'Auto bottom-up'), but you can change this. It is best to set the 'Manual' period mode before the Box scope is defined as a precaution.

Done properly, the App configuration is of the 'one time in a lifetime' kind and to be forgotten later.
