[BigGantt Addon] Child tasks with lower dependency does not move with the higher dependency

Deleted user September 23, 2018

Hello, I am encountering some kind of limitation with the BigGantt addon for Jira Cloud. For example, I have a Parent task with three child tasks, Child A end is depended by Child B start, and Child B end to Child C start. Basically the child tasks are dependent by End to Start.

When I move Child A duration forward, it automatically moves the dates for Child B and C. However, moving dates of A backwards does not automatically adjusts the dates for B and C.

I am assuming that with other more complicated dependencies, the dates won't automatically update if the task is moved backwards.

I have also found below documentation for BigGantt. Is there a workaround for this? I am quite new with the addon.

https://wiki.softwareplant.com/display/DOCUMENTATION/Tasks+and+task-based+actions

"Moving Task A to the left has no effect on Task B. When Task B is moved to the left, it will not go further than Task A's End Date. Moving it to the right has no effect on Task A."

Hi,

Just to clarify matters, the  ASAP scheduling feature for our BigPicture/BigGantt cloud plugin is currently being tested and should be deployed within days - as soon as the tests are done. So please bear with us just a few more days. Our team are very busy making it possible.

Should you have any questions please contact our support at support@softwareplant.com

Hi Rei

If you are already in the latest version of BG, but still cannot see the ASAP mode, you may need to contact with SoftwarePlant tech support directly. It should be there no matter you are running trial or paid license.

Hi Rei

They recently released "ASAP Mode" which might be something you are looking for. When you create a link, check the box "ASAP". You can refer to detail documentation in the link you listed above, search "ASAP mode". Depends on your version of BigGantt, you may need to upgrade it to the latest version to have this feature.

Hi Daniel

I would try it but the "ASAP Mode" does not appear in our instance of BigGantt and I do believe we have the latest version. Might be worth mentioning that we are still on trial period, but I don't think it's that. Thanks for your response!

I'm pretty sure that dependencies do NOT adjust backwards, no matter what mode you are in.
