Dear Community,

I'm trying to investigate if BigPicture is a good fit for our organization and here are first , basic questions

1) Can you organize the work into boxes and see the boxes hierarchy but down to the JIRA Epics level? So far I can either see the hierarchy limited to boxes or I need to enter specific project to see related Epics. For example I would like to see on one page that my Home consists of two Portfolios (Internal projects and Client projects), then in these protfolios I would like to see all these projects but also all Epics from JIRA belonging to each project. Doable?

2) Cross-project dependencies. We have several PMs that should manage projects on their own (Gantt etc. and ideally each PM shall be authorized to modify his project only), however we also want to organize portfolio of projects on higher level and be able to see cross project dependencies between Epics in JIRA. That relates to my first question - if I can see the real "big picture" from Home through Boxes till JIRA Epics and visualize dependencies between Epics there?

Really appreciate any help

Przemek

Hi @Przem Ba

Those are very interesting questions. Both cases you described are not available at the moment. However, we are constantly developing our tool, and we are aware that these are expected functionalities.

Please be advised that the works on the Dependencies Report are underway. We are going to introduce a new report type which for each sub-Box of the active Box will show all dependencies between tasks in the scope of that sub-Box and tasks in the scope of other sub-Boxes.
Please follow ticket ONE-21250 to be up to date with the functionality progress. Note that it is best to open the link in the incognito tab of your browser.

Regarding the possibility of displaying boxes' hierarchy and their scope, it's already in our backlog - ONE-16924. We plan to add to the Home page the possibility of enabling a Gantt chart that will display a scope of many sub-boxes and to add filtering that will narrow the scope to e.g., epics only.

Hi @Przem Ba

1) Doable, but you would have to set in a program. You would have to create the placeholder tasks to separate between internal vs client projects.and align the projects to the corresponding portfolio. You can define the projects in scope and there are additional jql filters that allow to pick only the epics.

2) Yes, you can have a program for each PM and also a higher level Program separately that would bring everything together. You will have to play with the hierarchy settings to configure it the right way.

Thanks Fabian, I was not able to get there  using Programs, I was only able to get cross project dependencies under one hybrid project and basic tasks there (see below dependency between Core and EN projects). Very weak workaround as I can't define auto scope for basic tasks so this would require a lot of manual drag and drop every time something new is defined in JIRA. As according to the vendor this functionality is not supported yet, there is probably no other choice than look for other plugins. Thanks nevertheless!
