Board/Backlog Missing from Company-Managed Project (Admin Access)

Alanoud Khaneen June 30, 2025

Hello,

I am an admin for our Jira Cloud (Company-managed) project, but I am unable to see or access the board and backlog for the project. My teammates can still access them without issue.

Troubleshooting steps I have already tried:

  • Confirmed I have the correct project permissions (Browse Projects, Admin, etc.).

  • Attempted to locate the board under “Your work > Boards” and in the project navigation—board is not listed.

  • No error messages are displayed; the board/backlog simply does not appear.

Thank you for your assistance!

Hi @Alanoud Khaneen

If you are the admin of the project you should absolutely be able to see the board and the backlog. There is no restrictions if you have project access.

This could occur if your Jira-Servicedesk-customer identity is added as admin to your project instead of your Jira-software identity.

Could you please verify that the correct identity is added as admin to the project?

  • Go to project settings -> People. Check if the avatar by your name is grey.
  • In that case go to "Add people" and look up your name if you find your name where the avatar is colored add that identity to the project with the proper permissions and check if you can access the board and backlog.
  • Remove the identity with the grey avatar from the project

The avatar is colored not gray but I can't access the backlog these are the options I have:

Strange, @Alanoud Khaneen  Can you try to access View all boards and see if you can see there? also, share the board permission snap.

When I viewed all boards it shows me that this board is private, although I have Administrator role

Even if you a project admin that does not mean you'll be prt of board admin or the board will be visible by default.

In this case you need to reach out to site-admin and ask to grant the access to this board.

Hi @Alanoud Khaneen

check the board filter associated with the board and see if you have access to the board filter or not.

Alanoud Khaneen June 30, 2025

Yes I can access the filter

@Alanoud Khaneen Welcome to the community!

If the board is not visited under the project navigation then please check Location of that board? whether its shared with the project or any specific user.

If the location is set as any specific user then you can see that board.
