Board setting for card colors by query throwing error

Trying to setup the Jira board to show colors by the parent link. The green checkmark shows up that it's a valid qurery

"Parent Link" in (ABC-123).

When I view the board it keeps showing an error and no color is shown.

"Error. Cannot parse card color query"

When you run your JQL in advance search, what results do you get? 

Depending on the results of your query, that might give us an idea why it's throwing that error.
