We have Jira Software data center and we need to link our users’ accounts on JSW with team hierarchy (Chapter, squad and tribe). many squads form tribe (usually 5-6 squads) and a single squad includes 5-10 ppl. Chapters reflects specialty (horizontally) which means that some people from each squad are related to specific chapter (like developers for example). How can we achieve this on Jira and being able to report on that?
- Is it achievable on BigPicture or user profiles on Jira or any other add-on?
- Can we use assets management feature that is already existing on JSM (to have it on Jira software data center)?
Please note that we have eazyBi and we are currently report on that using external data source (excel sheet) which needs a lot of manual work and effort to import data periodically and reflect any updates.
Thanks to help me in that request!

Hi @Omar Mohamed Fathi ,

the User Profiles for Jira App can provide you the following functionalities for your use-case:

  1. Add additional information to your profiles.
    1. based on the user directory configured in Jira
    2. or each user can configure it manually by there own.
  2. Create custom fields which automatically contains the additional information of the current assignee, reporter or every other custom fields of type user.
  3. Create filters based on the custom fields with the additional information.

I don't know exactly what kind of reports you want to create, but here's an example of what it might look like:

  1. Add the manager as an additional information to the profiles.
  2. Create a custom field "Manager of assignee". (It is only an example, there are 1 or 2 more steps to do)
  3. Create a filter "All issues where userXY is the manager of the assignee"
    1. Of course you can add additional filter criteria like all open or closed issues.
  4. Now you can create a report based on the filter (or use directly a search query)

I hope this information helps you. Please do not hesitate to ask, if you have any further questions.

Kind regards,

Hi @Omar Mohamed Fathi

About the last part of your post- in eazyBI you can set up automatic file upload from a directory: https://docs.eazybi.com/eazybi/data-import/external-data-sources/import-source-files-from-directory
