Hello @Alaca, Kubra

Can you provide more information about what problem you are trying to solve with these questions?

Can you provide a screen image of what you are referring to when you say "burndown epic"?

Hi @Alaca, Kubra

It's Mary from Planyway for Jira

In Jira, the way you view and interact with backlogs, epics, and sprints depends on the project type and the configurations set by your Jira administrator or project manager. However, I can provide you with some general insights on how these elements typically work within Jira:

Viewing Entire Backlog Within an Epic

  1. Epic Focus in Backlog: In Jira, when you want to focus on issues within a specific epic, you can do so from the backlog view. By selecting an epic, you can filter the backlog to show only the issues that are part of that epic. This allows you to see the entire backlog for that epic.

  2. Backlog View: The backlog in Jira is a list of issues that have been created but not yet assigned to a sprint. It includes issues from all epics that have not been completed, unless filtered by a specific epic or another criterion.

Processing All Sprints

  1. Active Sprints: In the "Active Sprints" or "Board" view, you can see the issues currently being worked on in the active sprint. This view focuses on the current sprint's progress and doesn't directly show the entire backlog or issues from multiple sprints.

  2. Reports for Multiple Sprints: Jira offers various reports, such as the Burndown Chart, Sprint Report, and Velocity Chart, which allow you to track the progress of one or more sprints. The Burndown Chart, for example, can show you the work remaining in the current sprint, but you can also look at past sprints to see how work has progressed over time.

Specifics to Note:

  • Burndown Chart and Epics: The Burndown Chart typically tracks the amount of work that has been completed and what remains in a sprint. While it doesn't directly show an epic's backlog, you can use it to monitor the progress of issues in an epic that are part of the current sprint.

  • Epic Reports: Some reports are specifically designed to track the progress of epics, such as the Epic Burndown report, which shows the progress towards completing all issues in an epic over time, including across multiple sprints.

  • Project Configuration: The availability and behavior of these features can depend on how your Jira project is set up. Custom filters, board configurations, and user permissions can all affect what data you can see and how it's displayed.
