CONFLUENCE GLOBAL AUTORISATION

Hi everyone.

I need your help. I am using Confluence for Server side.

I have my different access levels that I can assign to each user, but I have 1 problem.

When I create a document, like :

Document 1
   Document 1.1
   Document 1.2
   Document 1.3

For example when I add a restriction to my parent Document 1 and I say that these users can read the document but can't make changes, then I have to do the same thing one by one of my child documents. The system, shows me that there exists a Legacy from parent document, but I have the impression that it is not working or I don't know how to activate it.

Do you have some experiance ?

I would like to be able to give once a restiction to my parent document and it is automatically applied for child documents. Is it possible ?

Hi @Mane Zakaryan

How do inherited restrictions work?

View restrictions are inherited, which means a restriction applied to one page will cascade down to any child pages.  Edit restrictions are not inherited, which means pages need to be restricted individually.

The restrictions dialog will tell you when there are inherited restrictions that might affect who can view your page.

Here's the basics:

  • If you restrict viewing to a person or group, only they will be able to see that page and all its child pages (unless there are further restrictions on the child pages).
  • If you restrict editing to a person or group, they'll be able to see and edit that page, plus see its child pages.
  • Parent pages (higher up in the page hierarchy) can have their own view restrictions that may prevent people from viewing your page.

If the person you've listed as a viewer or editor can't see the page, check to make sure:

  • they have View space permission for that space, or
  • there's no view restriction on a page higher up the page hierarchy that prevents them seeing any children of that page.

View current page restrictions

The restrictions icon at the top of the page gives you a clue that the page has restrictions:

Viewing this page is not restricted. Everyone can see this page (but editing may be restricted).

The page is restricted. Click the icon to see the list of who can view and edit this page.

The page is inheriting restrictions from another page. Click the icon then choose Inherited Restrictions to see a list of pages this page is inheriting restrictions from.

Thank you for your help @Dave Mathijs .

I have just done the following.

I restricted to a group of users as ''Can Only Read'' restriction for my parent document.

For my child documents I selected the option 3 of your capture. I did it for all my child documents one by one.
As I understand, in any case I have to enter into each child document and add at least this option of restriction for inheriting restrictions from parent document.

So, it makes complicated managing the documents. Especially, if there are not only a lot of documents but also many users.

So, the best solution that I can have, it  is only one person should be responsible for the creation of the documents. Because, today if one creates a document and didn't pay attention to the restrictions or doesn't have an access to do so, the document will not inheritate the basic restrictions. And it can be out of control.
