Hi all,
I was wondering would it be possible that part of users in the project have access to confluence connected to that project while other users don't.
Hi @Alison Meng,
Permissions in Jira and Confluence are managed separately, so that is definitely possible.
In order to have access to a Jira Software project, a user needs Jira Software Application (i.e. a valid license) Access as well as Browse Project permission to the project itself. To access the related Confluence space, that user also needs Confluence Application Access (i.e. a valid license) as well as access to the dedicated Confluence space.
All those permissions are managed separately.
Hope this helps!
Hi @Walter Buggenhout so if we grant access the user group from Jira, they still can not access the Confluence because the permission are managed separately? like the user group from jira should still add as user on confluence?

Let me use a metaphor here. You can see Jira and Confluence as 2 different houses in a holiday resort (your Atlassian site).
When people book a holiday in the resort, they get an access badge (their Atlassian user name and password) that they can use to enter facilities/houses in the resort. Some guests may have access to all houses while others can only access the Jira house. And you basically pay (a license) for each house you are allowed to access.
The license I mentioned only allows you to open the front door of the house and enter the hallway. But - obviously - houses consists of different rooms. These rooms are called projects (in the Jira house) and spaces (in the Confluence house). To enter a room in either house, you will need separate access as well. Or in short: it is not because you can get through the front door, that you also have access to the rooms inside the house.
Make sure that your users:

Hi @Alison Meng
Yes, this can be done. I believe that all you got to do is:
Did you try any of the above solutions?
