Can I configure when I get emails for watched issues based on criteria?

Michelle Wilson August 20, 2021

I get sooo many JIRA emails because I have to watch a lot of issues. 90% of them are instantly deleted. I'd like to be able to configure when I get an email on an issue I watch based on some criteria, like when status is set to a certain value. Is this possible or in the works? Would be a great feature!

Example:
Click on "Start watching this issue" and sidebar or popup appears to let me enter some basic criteria like When <field> = <value> (i.e. When Status = Closed).

Hi @Michelle Wilson

What about creating that specific criteria in JQL, save as a filter, and then subscribe to that filter (like every 15 min). Something like:

Wouldn't that do the job?

Hi @Michelle Wilson, not out of the box, but you can achieve somethig similar to what you're looking for with apps like this one. You will certainly find other apps that can help you with that. Have a look at the Marketplace.

Now, as a suggestion, I'd review the process you have in place because watching a lot of issues and get 90% of them instantly deleted sounds that you've got a massive opportunity to flesh that out. ;)
