Can I create custom fields for my project board?

I want to be able to create my own custom fields for my project board to assist with better managing my teams tasks.

I have tried looking at all the project settings but haven't been able to find an option to create my own fields (other than selecting additional generic custom fields available)

Only Jira admin can create new custom field. If you don't have this permission, please tell your company Jira admin about your requirement. If you are also Jira admin, please follow this guide https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/create-a-custom-field/
