Hi,

Does anybody know if I have Jira Software and Jira Service Management Server licenses on the same instance, can I switch Jira Service Management to DC license and leave the Jira Software on Server license?

Thanks,

Boyan

Hi @Boyan Angelov (Nemetschek Bulgaria)

It's all unique

You can find it in the Applications tab under the version and licenses option (You need to have System admin permission in case of DC)

Thanks,
Pramodh

Hi Pramodh,

Thanks for the quick reply. I know each of the products has separate license, but the question here is if I can mix different types of licenses on the same instance. Have you tried running one with DC and another with Server license on the same instance?

Cheers,

Boyan

@Boyan Angelov (Nemetschek Bulgaria)

To explain in simple terms, .obr files are what we have for add-ons

When you install Jira Software or Jira Service Management, the latter one which you install is installed as an add-on from .obr

And as you know we would need DC licensed add-on to properly work as explained by @Nic Brough -Adaptavist-

Please confirm @Nic Brough -Adaptavist-

Yes, if your Jira platform (core) is licenced for DC, then everything you add to it will need to have a DC licence applied to it.

(Applications and apps can arrive in a few formats, OBR and JAR being the most common.  Note that in a lot of cases, the software is actually identical, when you're getting an app for DC, it's the same file as the app for Server.  It's only the licence that matters)

This does not work, the whole server/DC suite has to be on the same type of licence.  It can't work any other way - think about the apps and applications.

JSW and JSM are applications that run on the "Jira platform".  If you want to run a DC version of them, they have to be running on a DC licence for the platform.  If you want them on Server, the platform has to be server.

The platform is Jira Core (Jira work management).  So that has to be server or DC.  You can only run server apps and applications on a server core, and DC apps and applications on a DC core.
