I have a project set up just as a bug database, nothing else. I am already struggling with the new JIRA UI, because the list that is the standard view for issues is far too basic. I literally need a database, and have had this view in other companies before on the other versions of JIRA which made it so great as a bug database! To be able to look at a database-type view, I can select "advanced search" when viewing issues to have a better overview.
The problem with this is that when this is selected, the user is switched to a search of ALL of my companies projects combined, just with a filter set for this specific project. If I then select one of the other preset filters from the left hand dashboard, I will open, for example, all "Open Issues" of every project we have running, which is a lot.
Is there a way I can limit this view to only one project? 90% of my team are only on this one project and I dont want to confuse them any more than necessary. They dont really even need to have access to all the rest of the company's ongoing work.
Hi @Janine Daniels,
As I understood, you would like to restrict the advanced search filter to return only specific project to users? If yes, you can't do that. Because users can search any project that they can see.
If they don't really need to have an access to all rest of projects, you can remove "Browse Project" permission of these users from permission scheme. So that, these projects will not be listed in search view as they don't have a browse access for them (although you have a shared filter).
Hi Tansu,
Thank you for the information. Since I am not really in charge of our project admin I do not have the rights to remove everyone's permissions, and I dont think the company would do that (too much for for our IT if they want it undone in the future).
Do you know if theres another way to be able to view the issues as a database rather than a simple list that is limited to one project? My team are really struggling with the UI of the simple list view as they have no overview without using the detailed view.

I also just discovered that selecting one of my project components also opens up the advanced search view, which is then also filtering everything from every project instead of just the project the component was it. This is quite pointless and confusing to me, I wonder why they designed it like this?
