Can I make project category mandatory in Jira Cloud

Hi,

Can I make project category mandatory in Jira Cloud so project admins have to complete this when they set up a project?

Hi Jennifer - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

As Lara said, no you cannot force this on create. You could setup a filter and then a subscription that emails you for any Projects that are missing a Category. 

Also, we tend to create a Project based on an existing Project, which would pull in the Category with it.

Sadly no. Project Category is not a field you can control.
