I know that there isn't a way to automatically add the sub-tasks time estimates or logged work values into the parent tickets values out of the box in Jira. I'm unaware of any app that can do that function at the moment. If you all have one in mind please let me know.
The only option is to click on the "Include Sub-tasks" box which is useless when it comes to reporting on the sub-tasks data in Jira because it doesn't roll up to the parent ticket. What other function does this "Include Sub-Tasks" box have? Does it appear anywhere else in Jira?
So I'm asking is there away to just remove that "Include Sub-Tasks" box all together or possibly not have it automatically checked when viewing the parent issues?
Hello,
Indeed, the ability to sum up sub-tasks estimation to their parents is one o the most required features in JIRA which our developers are still working to implement, as you can see in the feature request created below:
Sum estimates from sub-tasks in user stories
That been said, some third-party partners have developed apps that can provide the user with this functionality. Here are some options that give you this feature:
Additionally, feel free to vote and watch the suggestion to increase its priority and also receive notifications about any updates. Also, check all the other workarounds and plugins provided by other users in the same Feature request.
About the "Include Sub-tasks" flag box, there's no option to remove it, however, I believe it will be a useful feature if you decide to use one of the plugins above to perform the summing of sub-task estimations.
Let me know if you have any questions about the proposed options.
