Can I remove Automatic as an option from the Assignee picklist?

In Cloud version, is it possible to remove Automatic from the picklist so that a user cannot select this when editing an issue?

I dont think there is way to disable Automatic option.

However its usefull - When Reporter not sure about the assignee that time this is helpful. If user know the assignee that time they definitely select the user instead of Automatic option

You need to educate user when to select Automatic option. 

If user select automatic option then this will happen

• If there are component(s) on an issue, the issue will be assigned to the Default assignee of one of the components. Project admins can change the Default assignee of components by going to a project and then selecting Project settings > Components. Learn more about organizing work with components.

• If there are no components with default assignees on an issue, the issue will be assigned to the project’s Default assignee. Admins can change the project’s Default assignee by going to a project and then selecting Project settings > Details.

Currently, hiding  the automatic isn’t possible  and also its the default to such system field
