Can I restrict users from adding items to a future sprint?

I want to prevent users who are not an admin, lead, PM, or in the dev group from being able add tickets to a future sprint. Is this possible?

I am on JIRA cloud and have the scriptrunner plugin.

Hi Eric,

Per the documentation, when a user is granted with Edit Issues and Schedule Issues permission, they will be able to assign issues to a sprint (current or future). You can find more details here:
