Can I set different access permissions on some assets vs. others in the same Asset List?

Hello,

We would like the team to all share one asset list, but have some items in that list not visible to some groups.  We want management to be able to access all, and then depending on role, you can "see" or not see certain available assets.  Is this doable in the same asset list, or do I need to create a second asset list for ones we want to restrict and then can I link to it from the main one?  We don't want people to have to check two asset lists.  Thank you.

Hi @Sarah Edell ,

As far as I know, you can not set permissions on individual assets.

I guess the only option is to configure 2 separate object types.

Best regards,

kris

Do you mean two separate object types, or two separate asset lists?  Can I keep them in the same asset list and have one object type that has special permissions?  Or do I need an entirely different asset list?  If I have to have a different asset list, then I can create a viewable asset that is named something like "confidential re X" and then link from it to the new, locked down asset list object.

Since permissions are defined on Object Type, you will have to create separate Object Types.

But maybe you can use inheritance to create main- and sub-object types and set the permissions on the sub-type ?
