Can I use bulk update to set unique integer to a specific custom field?

We created a specific field when we create specific issue type (Story, defect, task) and use an automation rule to set a unique value in this field last year.

Now we need to add an issue type (e.g. Epic) in this automation rule when we create an issue type.

The challenge now is can I use bulk update to set values for the existing issue type (e.g. Epic) we will add in this rule?

Hi @Sherwin Soriano

Yes you can.

As a precaution when doing bulk operations, you can export the selected issues first.

If you need assistance with the automation, feel free to post a picture (with sensitive info censored).

Sincerely

Dick

Hi @Dick

I can use bulk update and I assume the operation will be move or edit issue and then select the field right?

When I select that field, its just blank, what syntax should I use to set unique values for the selected tickets in the query?

Hi Sherwin,
You determine the string of characters that defines the unique value you want. The bulk edit will use what you define by filling the blank field. Any issue that was selected when starting the bulk change will have that unique value set for it (all will have the same entry).

Regards,

Dick
