Can I use my organization's SMTP to send out Jira notification in case of AWS hosted jira?

We want to go for AWS deployment of on-premises jira server. We are worried about how will jira notification work? Will we be able to use our organization's SMTP behind the firewall for this purpose? If yes then how? Please also suggest how best it can be done in case of AWS hosted jira server. Thanks.

Vivek,

  You should be able to use your companies SMTP servers to send email.  You will want to make sure that all IPSEC and firewall rules are correctly configured to ensure that messages are not blocked.
