Can Jira(Agile) be applied to our company

Hasan Teltik July 25, 2018

Software development is not the main focus of our company. So software is not what we sell, we just use hundreds of from one-liner background runners to large web services and some web applications to help our business. (Yes you might wonder why we bother developing them rather than outsourcing.) Now, I wonder if we can still apply Jira, in particular, Jira Agile to the software development process in our company. We have already bought Jira, Confluence and Bitbucket server versions and have been using them for a year and a half, but we haven't been able to switch from the old issue tracking system (Omnitracker) to Jira yet.

Could you please share some advice/experience?

JFI, the development of something is going in  the following orders:

  1. a.  We're assigned a development task by software architects. This could be a bugfix, improvement, a new feature or a totally new project task. The architects receive business requirements from business analysts.
    b.   We receive a service desk request, based on which we might open an investigation or a bug fix task.
  2. We then send whatever we've developed to software testers.
  3. If everything's ok, the testers send it to operations for deployment.
