Can Jira be used to initiate emails to clients? Specifically via Zendesk?

Our company uses Zendesk as the interface with clients and when clients want to contact us or we want to send outbound emails, Zendesk desk is the tool used.

However, in most cases where we want to do outbound emails, there is something raised in Jira that alerts us to send these out from Zendesk.

But I think this could be optimized if instead of creating an alert in Jira that we need to send a client an email, I’d like to initiate the email from within Jira.

Ideally, we would be able to make it look as if Zendesk sent this.

If not, we can work around this as long as the replies clients would send would be sent to Zendesk.

Is this possible? I’d be willing to hear about third party app integrations as well!

A couple ways you can do this that I am aware of are:

You can set up Jira automation to send emails off a trigger, that trigger could be when you move a card in Jira to the Done status, but also could be anything else you want. You can format this email in HTML.

You can just use the email function in Jira manually, 3 dots on the card and then click on "Send Mail".

You can "@SomeOnesNameHere" and it will send them an email and a notification in Jira.

You can use Jira automation to send data to a webhook that would then take that data and send an email mirroring Zendesk format (making it look like its from Zendesk).
