Nothing has been done yet.

You have to "vote" on this (both?) issues if you want to see it done, but there is no obvious way how to vote on issues. (edited: first log in, then refresh the page and you will see the ability to vote on the right side of the issue page)

Is there anywhere to see the current vote results?

The linked feature requests provided by Carlos Navarro have been open for nearly 12 years, with numerous up votes and comments arguing why the change is needed - yet no action has been taken.
